Hello to the Crossroads Campground's Host and Hostess...

I like to introduce Gene and his wife Dee, he is the man the Bureau of Land Management officially assigned to be in charge of Crossroads Campground during the summer months. A good man and a very experienced camper always willing to help. They're real nice folk. Very helpful and very skilled in tents, RVs and trailers camping. We developed a strong friendship with them in the summer of 2003. They happen to like the same camping life that we enjoy so much... Read more below.

About the Crossroads Campground's Host and Hostess...

I will always remember the first time we met and became good friends right off. When it came time for us to leave he asked me if, on return for the next camping trip, I could give him a ride in my jetski because, he said, he had never ridden one before. Well, by the time we made it back to Crossroads Campgrounds, three weeks later, he had already bought himself a nice 3-seaters Seadoo and was cruising up and down the river like an old rider. A man with a strong determination about life. That is my friend Gene.

Gene even got his wife, Dee, to go on the water and share fast rides with him. They were both reaching the 70 years old age They became known, all over their trailer and our tent, as the "Crossroads Campground Daredevil Jet Couple". He taught me many things about camping, both, in tents and RVs. He even got me involved in recreational vehicles. Finally, in 2005, we bought a used Winnebago Le Sharo RV. We were very lucky to follow his advise because, its does felt very homey when the desert wind, and the monsoons, want to make camping miserable for you.

After the summer of 2003, all video clips taken by me at the campground that season were edited and made into an 1.5 hours, 12 chapters DVD, as my gift to the hosts of Crossroads Campground; Gene and Dee. The perfect thing would have been to upload it to the net but, that is out of a question since the DVD file size was few Gigs too big.

Many times we have enjoyed seating outside, in our campsite, in the evening to watch a full moon coming up behind the hills across the river. It was amazing to see how the river come alive, full of sparks and light, in front of ours eyes. It is a very special moment when you catch this happening at the right time of the month. We have been doing this together for the last 4 summers. As of this writing, March 2007, we are about ready to go back for the 2007 fun times fix with our friends at Crossroads Campground!

If you get curious and venture into Crossroads Campgrounds, you should find the host right at the entrance of the campground, enjoying their air conditioning trailer, you can?t miss it, the name at the back of the trailer says. .. Gene & Dee's Playhouse!
